We are currently seeking an experienced Rolling Stock Engineer to join our team in Melbourne.
About the Role:
This role is central to shaping the design, functionality and long-term performance of a fully automated rolling stock fleet. You’ll represent the operator’s technical needs throughout design, integration and readiness, ensuring the trains are safe, reliable and optimised for day-one operations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Maintaining and developing the Rolling Stock Concept of Operations and translating it into clear operational and maintenance requirements.
- Assessing rolling stock designs, identifying improvements, and benchmarking GoA4 best practice.
- Leading configuration updates, enhancements and reliability-focused changes.
- Ensuring rolling stock integrates seamlessly with other rail systems and depot equipment.
- Supporting predictive maintenance capability and defining rolling stock asset information needs.
- Reviewing technical documentation, design submissions and reliability targets.
- Contributing to testing, assurance and operator-led design reviews.
- Monitoring performance trends and recommending optimisation opportunities.
- Providing technical guidance and ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
Profile
- Bachelor’s degree or Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience (7 to 10 years) in rolling stock design, manufacturing, test & commissioning and maintenance, including depot equipment, special tools and new technologies for predictive maintenance
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
- Certification or training in relevant system technologies or methodologies is a plus.
- Experience with project management methodologies and tools, with a track record of successfully delivering complex system projects on time and within budget is a plus.
