We are currently seeking an experienced Project Finance Accountant to join our team in Melbourne.About the Role:
The Project Financial Accountant provides critical financial support to the Commercial Manager and project team, ensuring accurate reporting, compliance, and efficient financial management. Key responsibilities include:
- Manage project budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and financial reporting.
- Ensure accurate revenue recognition, billing, and profitability analysis to support decision-making.
- Monitor cash flow, WIP, accounts receivable, and maintain internal financial controls.
- Prepare monthly and annual financial statements and reconcile general ledger accounts.
- Support tax compliance, audits, and financial reporting to management and stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain cash flow forecasts, budgets, and Joint Venture finance processes.
- Oversee payroll, workers’ compensation, and other project-related financial obligations.
- Implement improvements to financial systems and processes.
- Perform ad hoc accounting and finance duties as required, including monthly client payment claims.
Profile
About You:
You are an experienced finance professional with a strong background in supporting major projects, ideally within infrastructure. You will have:
- 3–5 years’ experience in a similar finance or project accounting role.
- Solid understanding of project structures, budgeting, reporting, and statutory compliance.
- Knowledge of accounting standards, tax requirements, and internal financial controls.
- Experience with upstream payment claims and developing financial processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and accounting software such as NetSuite or Xero.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA, CA, or equivalent professional qualification is preferred.
- Excellent planning, organisational, and communication skills, with a detail-oriented, collaborative “can-do” attitude.
