We are currently seeking an O&M Station Engineer to join the SRL Operator Technical Team within the Linewide Alliance for the Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) East Project.

About the Role:

The O&M Station Engineer is part of the SRL Operator Technical Team and Engineering Authority and plays a key role in ensuring Stations & Buildings are designed to meet future operational and maintenance needs. The role focuses on safety, operability, maintainability, reliability, and whole-of-life performance, supporting an operator-led design approach throughout the V-cycle.

The scope of the role will evolve as the project progresses. In this role, you will:

  • Maintain and manage Station-related Concept of Operations documents, ensuring translation into O&M needs and project requirements
  • Liaise with Stations Works Packages and the Integration Management Team to ensure requirements are correctly interpreted and embedded in design
  • Review Stations & Buildings design and changes to ensure operability, maintainability, reliability, scalability, and safety
  • Conduct detailed O&M needs analysis for:

    Back-of-house facility areas and rooms
  • Front-of-house areas including paid/unpaid concourse, platforms, public amenities, queuing areas, and passenger facilities
  • Undertake O&M analysis of Station systems and building elements including:

    Tunnel ventilation
  • Security and monitoring systems
  • Public communications systems (PAS, PIDS, etc.)
  • MEP systems (LV power, hydraulics, vertical transport, lighting, fire protection)
  • Assess space proofing and integration for cabling, containment, routing, wayfinding, signage, earthing and bonding, and noise and vibration
  • Ensure consistency of Station systems, assets, documentation, and standards across multiple Works Packages
  • Support asset standardisation and ensure Station assets meet operational and maintenance requirements
  • Contribute to interface definition between Stations and other sub-systems
  • Support Risk-Based Training Needs Analysis (RBTNA) to inform development of O&M training materials
  • Participate in design reviews and champion an operator-led design philosophy
  • Own and improve lifecycle cost (LCC) assumptions through the design phase
  • Maintain Station configuration, O&M documentation, and support audits, inspections, and reviews
  • Support change management to ensure safety and operational readiness ahead of testing and commissioning

Profile

About You:

You are an experienced rail professional with strong expertise in station operations, maintenance, and design integration. You are comfortable working across complex interfaces and influencing outcomes to ensure stations are safe, operable, and fit for purpose. You will bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline
  • 7–10 years’ experience in railway station operation and maintenance, station definition and design, manufacturing, testing, and commissioning
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders
  • Experience with project management methodologies and tools (desirable)
  • Certification or training in relevant systems or methodologies (desirable)
